I love how subversive the mangosteen is! Pomegranates are similarly inefficient, though I guess they figured out how to “process” those. Your photos and thoughts here are a lovely pause. I’m currently on vacation myself, so I totally get what you say about reconnecting with my body. One way I prioritize my creative life is to keep myself on a pretty tight schedule. Writing comes first, then “life” stuff. The downside to that is, I dislike being so regimented! I need empty space — at least sometimes. Thanks for the shout-out!

Thank you for this comment Julie. I love the addition of the rebellious pomegranate :) And interesting to read your schedule which keeps your creative life alive. I struggle with schedules but I guess I do have my own version of them - I just trick my mind into thinking that it is not one.... :)

This is so sensual and beautiful. It felt like my breath slowed down just from reading it.

I ate my first mangosteen today, what a feast for the eyes that fruit is. I brought it back from Bangkok, where I stopped over on the way from a month in Bali. I have walked those same Ubud rice field paths…and shared many a similar thought. Glad to have found your substack. I look forward to reading you.

Oh excited for your first mangosteen Liza. It is such a great fruit! 🙂 Ah yes I am sure you know Ubud based on your beautiful photo from that Bali yoga shala. Same look forward to reading more of what you are exploring.
